Substance Misuse, Addiction & Recovery Support
In a culture where drinking and certain habits are a big part of social life, it’s easy to overlook when things quietly start to get out of hand. Whether it’s alcohol, weed, gambling, porn, food, or phone use—many men don’t think of it as a “problem” until it begins to affect their mood, relationships, or responsibilities.
Addiction doesn’t always look like rock bottom. Sometimes, it looks like needing a drink just to relax, hiding habits from loved ones, or feeling like you’ve lost control but don’t know how to get it back.
At MASC, we get that opening up isn’t always easy—especially in a community where strength is often measured by silence. That’s why we offer a short, private self-check questionnaire to help you reflect—no pressure, no labels, just a moment to be honest with yourself.
Quick Self-Check: Is It Time to Talk?
Take a quiet moment to reflect. These questions aren’t about judgment—they’re about awareness.
- Do you often use alcohol, weed, or other substances to relax, escape, or cope with stress?
- Have friends, family, or a partner ever commented on your drinking, smoking, or other habits—even jokingly?
- Do you sometimes hide or downplay how much you use, spend, or engage in certain behaviours (e.g., gambling, porn, eating, phone use)?
- Have your habits ever caused tension at home, at work, or in your relationships?
- Do you feel irritated, restless, or anxious when you try to cut back—or feel like you can’t?
- Have you told yourself, “I’ve got this under control”—even when something didn’t feel right?
If you answered “yes” to two or more, it might be a sign to talk with someone.
You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support—just a willingness to check in with yourself.
We’re here to help—confidentially, respectfully, and without pressure.
